Some fragmented records from the Dragon Wars speak of dragons that shrouded themselves in darkness, emerging from the blackness only to kindle their flames. After the wars, they seemed to disappear for a time. The shadow Dragons returned to Terrinoth to assist with Zachareth's plot to resurrect Dragonlord Gryvorn. Since then, the beasts have been more frequently encountered, often in league with some dark force or another.
